Vladimir Sofronitsky studied under Alexander Michalowski at the Warsaw Conservatory, beginning his lessons on the recommendation of A. K. Glazunov. Even after his family returned to Saint Petersburg in 1913, he remained Michalowski’s pupil and continued to travel monthly to Poland for piano lessons until the outbreak of the First World War.
