Alexander Goldenweiser's adopted son, Grigory Ginzburg, was raised in Goldenweiser's family from the age of six after his father's death, where he began studying music. Ginzburg studied at the Moscow Conservatory from 1917 in Goldenweiser's class and graduated in 1924, then continued in the Conservatory's postgraduate program under him until 1928.
