Vladimir Bunin completed postgraduate studies in 1939 under Anatoly Alexandrov at the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. Alexandrov was a professor at the conservatory from 1923 to 1965 and listed Bunin among his students.
