Baldassare Galuppi is traditionally regarded as having studied under Antonio Lotti in Venice, where Lotti served throughout his career at St Mark’s Basilica as organist and later maestro di cappella. According to oral tradition reported by Francesco Caffi, the young Galuppi was trained by Lotti in composition and harpsichord, and other sources note that Galuppi’s formal musical education in the Venetian conservatory included study with Lotti. This teacher‑student relationship placed Galuppi within Lotti’s circle of distinguished pupils and helped shape his early development as a composer.
