Apolinary Kątski founded the Warsaw Musical Institute in 1861 and served as its director and teacher of the higher violin class from 1861 to 1879. Zygmunt Noskowski studied violin under him at the institute from 1864 to 1867. Kątski, a renowned Polish and Russian violinist and pedagogue, contributed to Noskowski’s early technical development.
Although Noskowski later focused more on composition and conducting, his studies with Kątski provided him with an instrumental foundation and connected him to a distinguished lineage of violin pedagogy in Warsaw. Kątski’s influence contributed to the broader musical training that later allowed Noskowski to become a prominent composer, conductor, and educator.
