Giuseppe Nicolini studied under Fedele Fenaroli at the Conservatory of Sant’Onofrio a Porta Capuana in Naples after being admitted there in 1780 through the patronage of Duke Gian-Girolamo Sforza-Fogliani. Fenaroli, already a prominent composer and respected teacher of counterpoint, instructed Nicolini during the early 1780s, contributing to the young composer’s formal musical education. Nicolini completed his studies in 1784.
