Francesco Provenzale served as a prominent teacher in Naples, where between 1673 and 1701 he directed the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini. During these years Alessandro Scarlatti was among his students, receiving part of his early musical education under Provenzale’s guidance. This connection placed Scarlatti within the emerging Neapolitan operatic tradition that Provenzale had founded and shaped.
