Frantisek Tadeas Blatt studied composition under Friedrich Dionys Weber at the Prague Conservatory. After returning to Prague in 1807, Blatt began formal musical training and from 1811 to 1817 he was a composition student of Weber, who served as director of the conservatory from 1811 until his death. Weber, already an established composer, pedagogue and influential figure in Prague’s musical life, guided Blatt during these formative years.
