Anna Sachse-Hofmeister studied violin with Georg Hellmesberger at the Vienna Conservatory between 1864 and 1866. Hellmesberger taught there from 1833 to 1867 and provided her with violin instruction while she was preparing for a potential career as a violinist before turning to opera.
The teacher–student relationship placed Sachse-Hofmeister under the guidance of one of Vienna’s most influential musical educators, known for training many prominent performers. Although she later became celebrated primarily as an operatic soprano, her early musical development was shaped in part by Hellmesberger’s instruction, which contributed to the technical foundation of her artistic career.
