Dmitry Rogal-Levitsky was a student of Georgy Conus at the Moscow Conservatory. He studied in Conus's music theory class within the scientific-theoretical department of the creative faculty, graduating in 1925.

Rogal-Levitsky later authored personal essays dedicated to Conus, with whom he communicated and worked. Additionally, in 1934, Rogal-Levitsky prepared a new edition of Ernest Guiraud's "Practical Guide to Instrumentation," a work originally translated by Conus.
