Vincenzo Bellini studied counterpoint under Giacomo Tritto in Naples at the Real Collegio di Musica di San Sebastiano (also known as the Naples Conservatory). Around 1821, as part of his formal musical training, Bellini was placed in Tritto’s class, where he learned traditional contrapuntal techniques from the elderly composer, who by then had a long and distinguished teaching career.
