Giovanni Battista Pergolesi studied composition under Gaetano Greco after moving to Naples in 1725. At the Poveri di Gesù Cristo conservatory, where Greco was an established teacher, Pergolesi received instruction in the foundations of composition and became one of Greco’s pupils during the late 1720s.
