Zoltán Kodály studied composition under Hans von Koessler at the Royal Hungarian Academy of Music, which he attended alongside his language studies at the University of Budapest beginning in 1900.
Hans von Koessler taught organ and choir at the National Academy of Music in Budapest from 1882 and later held the position of professor of composition there; Zoltán Kodály was among his students.
