Hans Bronsart von Schellendorf and Ingeborg Bronsart von Schellendorf (née Starck) were husband and wife, having married in 1861. Both musicians were students of Franz Liszt in Weimar. Following Hans's appointment as general director of the royal theaters in Hanover in 1867, Ingeborg's touring activities declined.
