Gustav Wilhelmovich Neuhaus was the father of Heinrich Neuhaus and the director of a private music school in Elisavetgrad. In 1899 Gustav Neuhaus founded his own music school in Elisavetgrad, where his son Heinrich Neuhaus studied.
Heinrich later noted that he was in many ways self-taught, since his father’s teaching methods and pianistic principles tended to cause him rejection.
