In summer 1937, Igor Sposobin recognized Herman Galynin’s musical ability at an audition and recommended that he be admitted to the preparatory department of the Music School attached to the Moscow Conservatory. After a year in the preparatory department, Galynin entered the school in 1938 and studied under Sposobin and Georgy Litinsky.
