Franz Schoberlechner studied piano under Johann Nepomuk Hummel in Vienna. As Hummel’s pupil, he displayed exceptional precocity: in 1809, at the age of twelve, he premiered Hummel’s Second Piano Concerto. Other sources state that by the age of ten he was already performing a concerto written for him by Hummel, demonstrating the close pedagogical relationship between the teacher and his young student.
