Tomasz Napoleon Nidecki studied composition under Józef Elsner between 1824 and 1827 at the Warsaw School for Music and Dramatic Art and the Higher School of Music, where Elsner served as his composition teacher. This period of instruction placed Nidecki among Elsner’s notable students and made him a classmate of Frédéric Chopin.
