Wilhelmine Schröder-Devrient studied under the Italian-Austrian tenor and vocal pedagogue Julius Radichi, who was active in Vienna after retiring from the stage in 1829. Radichi, celebrated for his role as Florestan in Beethoven’s Fidelio and known for his long career at the Vienna Court Theatres, was one of her earliest vocal instructors. His guidance contributed to the development of her technique during the early years of her training, before she rose to prominence as a leading German operatic soprano.
