Oborin taught piano at the Moscow Conservatory from 1930 and became a professor there in 1935. Ashkenazy entered the Conservatory in 1955 and joined Oborin’s class, where Boris Zemlyansky was an assistant; Oborin trained more than 100 students, including Ashkenazy.
