Shmuel Weinberg was Mieczysław Weinberg’s father. At the Skala Jewish Theater in Warsaw, Shmuel led the orchestra in which Mieczysław played piano from the age of ten; they also worked together on the musical accompaniment for the 1936 film Fredek Makes the World Happy.
