In the spring of 1929, after finishing his nine-year school, Tikhon Khrennikov wrote to Mikhail Gnesin and, after receiving a positive response, entered the Gnessin Musical College. At the college, he studied in the composition class of Mikhail Gnesin. Khrennikov graduated from the college in 1932.
