Irina Chukovskaya studied at the Moscow State Conservatory in 1976–1981 in the classes of Professors Stanislav Neuhaus and Vera Gornostayeva, with Mikhail Kollontai among the assistants. Kollontai later wrote that after he became an assistant, Irina Petrova (Chukovskaya) attended his lessons.
