From 1767 to 1770, Giuseppe Gazzaniga studied under Niccolò Piccinni in Naples. During these years Piccinni served as one of Gazzaniga’s principal composition teachers at the Conservatorio di Sant'Onofrio a Porta Capuana, providing him with formal training in the Neapolitan operatic tradition that shaped Gazzaniga’s early development as a composer.
