Honoré François Marie Langlé studied music under Pasquale Cafaro at the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini in Naples, where he was sent at the age of fifteen by Honoré III of Monaco. Under Cafaro’s direction he studied harmony and counterpoint and remained at the conservatory for more than eight years, during which time he composed Masses and motets that established his early reputation in Italy.
