Pietro Platania studied composition under Pietro Raimondi in Palermo, after beginning his musical studies in his native Catania. At the Palermo Conservatory, where Raimondi served as professor of counterpoint and later as director, Platania became one of his students, receiving advanced training in composition and contrapuntal technique under the renowned master. This period of study formed a significant part of Platania’s early musical education.
