From 1935 to 1940, Valeriya Varshavskaya studied under Samuil Feinberg at the Moscow Conservatory. Feinberg, a professor at the conservatory, included Varshavskaya among his pupils. Varshavskaya's repertoire included transcriptions and arrangements of J. S. Bach's works created by Feinberg.
