Antonio Brancaleone studied under Saverio Mercadante in Naples after the municipality of Catania sent him there to continue his musical education. He entered the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory, where Mercadante taught him harmony and counterpoint, shaping the young composer’s advanced training following his earlier studies in Catania and Palermo.
