Lev Ginzburg was a student of Semyon Kozolupov. Ginzburg graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in 1931 and completed his postgraduate studies in 1937. Together with his teacher Kozolupov, Ginzburg prepared a reissue of Davydov's "School for Cello" in 1947.
