After meeting Sergei Taneyev, Anatoly Alexandrov began to study first with Taneyev's student, N. S. Zhilyayev, and then with Taneyev himself from 1907 to 1910. Later, Alexandrov completed a number of Taneyev's unfinished works and also authored articles and memoirs about him.
