Nikolai Lugansky studied with Tatiana Nikolayeva at the Moscow Conservatory, graduating in 1995. Nikolayeva taught in its special piano department from 1959, became a professor in 1965, and headed the department from 1985. In 1986, they recorded Mozart’s Concerto for Two Pianos in E-flat major, K. 365, and Concerto for Three Pianos in F major, K. 242; the recordings featured Eliso Virsaladze and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Saulius Sondeckis and were released by Melodiya in 1989.
