Nikolai Lugansky was a student of Tatiana Nikolayeva at the Moscow Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1995. Nikolayeva, who taught at the conservatory, lists Lugansky among her pupils. Additionally, the two pianists recorded Mozart's concertos for two and three pianos together in 1986.
