Vache Umr-Shat taught Svetlana Navasardyan in the piano class at the Romanos Melikian Music College in Yerevan and later at the Komitas Yerevan State Conservatory. Navasardyan came to him at the age of twelve and studied with him through her conservatory graduation in 1968.
