Rosina Lhévinne (born Bessie) studied under Vasily Safonov at the conservatory. She graduated in 1898 with a gold medal. At her graduation exam in 1898, she performed Frédéric Chopin's First Piano Concerto. Safonov included her among his outstanding students.
