Frédéric Chopin studied under the Czech musician Wilhelm Würfel during his years at the Warsaw Lyceum, specifically in his first year between 1823 and 1824. According to accounts, Würfel, then a professor at the Warsaw Conservatory and a friend of the Chopin family, provided Chopin with organ lessons and possibly some guidance in piano.

Ukrainian sources note that Würfel oversaw part of Chopin’s musical development during this period, offering valuable though irregular organ instruction. Although some claims suggest Chopin studied with him at the Warsaw High School of Music throughout 1823–1826, Würfel’s return to Prague in 1824 indicates that their direct contact ended that year.
