Armen Georgian was a Soviet Armenian cellist and music teacher. He was born in Baku in the Russian Empire on November 9, 1904, and studied at the Baku Music College with Vasily Dobrokhotov. In 1926 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied cello in the class of Anatoly Brandukov.
From 1927 to 1957 Georgian was a member of the All-Union Radio Trio. Later, from 1968 to 1972, he played in the Komitas Quartet. He also toured abroad as a performer.
Teaching formed a major part of his career. From 1927 to 1972 he taught at the Gnessin Music College, and from 1944 to 1989 at the Gnessin Musical-Pedagogical Institute. He became a professor in 1960. Alongside his cello class, he also taught a chamber ensemble class for a period.
Georgian was awarded the title Honored Art Worker of the RSFSR in 1967. He also received the Order of the Badge of Honour in 1945, as well as medals.
He died in Moscow on March 7, 1993, and was buried at Vagankovo Cemetery.
