Bart van de Roer (born 1972) is a Dutch pianist. He began piano lessons at the age of nine and completed his studies with Jan Wijn at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam in 1997. During his studies he attended masterclasses with György Sebők; afterwards, he studied with Rudolf Jansen, Menahem Pressler, Peter Frankl, the Vermeer Quartet, Cristina Ortiz and Eugen Indjic.
Van de Roer won prizes at the Princess Christina Competition, the Steinway Piano Competition and the Postbank Sweelinck Competition. In 1996 he received first prize at the International Tromp Music Competition in Eindhoven. He made his official recital debut at Amsterdam's Concertgebouw in 1997 and has since performed in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the Czech Republic, Ireland, Switzerland and the United States.
As a soloist, he has appeared with the Residentie Orchestra, the Brabant Orchestra, the Gelderland Orchestra, the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Orchestra of Belgium, Collegium Instrumentale Brugense and the Dutch Student Orchestra. His recordings include Leo Smit's Piano Concerto with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and Peter van Onna's Piano Concerto with the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra.
In 1996, Van de Roer founded the Storioni Trio with Marc and Wouter Vossen. The ensemble has toured Europe and the United States, performed at Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall and the Concertgebouw, and recorded piano trios by Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms. Its releases also include Beethoven's Triple Concerto and Archduke Trio on period instruments, as well as triple concertos by Martinů, Emanuel Moór and Kalevi Aho. Since 2008, the trio's members have served as artistic directors of the annual international Storioni Festival, held in and around Eindhoven.
The trio has commissioned repertoire for trio and orchestra from Kevin Volans, Nico Muhly, Pēteris Vasks, Giovanni Sollima, David Lang, Kalevi Aho, Brett Dean, Sebastian Fagerlund and Willem Jeths. It has performed triple concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven, Voříšek, Martinů, Moór, Casella, Lang, Wagemans, Jeths, Volans and Fagerlund with the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the North Netherlands Orchestra, deFilharmonie, the RTÉ Orchestra Dublin and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Wallonia. Van de Roer became Professor of Piano at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf in 2024, after fifteen years at Codarts Rotterdam Conservatory.
