Boris Isaakovich Raisov, whose real surname was Katz, was a Moldavian Soviet opera singer with a baritone voice. He was born on February 27, 1928, in Dondușeni, Bessarabia, and died on October 8, 1984, in Chișinău.
He completed secondary school in Dondușeni. During his military service he became a chorister in a naval ensemble, and after demobilization he worked in the chorus of the Chernivtsi Drama Theater. He graduated from the Chișinău Conservatory in 1958, where he was a student of D. G. Gershfeld.
On June 9, 1956, he took part in the premiere of David Gershfeld's opera Grozovan, singing the title role of the haiduk Grigory Grozovan. This production opened the Moldavian State Opera and Ballet Theater.
From 1956 to 1960, and again from 1962 onward, Raisov was a soloist of the Moldavian Opera and Ballet Theater in Chișinău. From 1960 to 1962 he was a soloist of the Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theater.
Among his noted roles were Gryaznoy in The Tsar's Bride, the Prince in The Enchantress, Tomsky in The Queen of Spades, Galitsky in Prince Igor, Iago in Otello, as well as Rigoletto, Figaro, Scarpia, Tonio, Valentin, and Taddeo.
In chamber performances he was accompanied by G. B. Strakhilevich. Together with the accompanist Sergo Bengelsdorf, he also performed programs of Jewish songs in Yiddish.
He was named Honored Artist of the Moldavian SSR in 1964 and People's Artist of the Moldavian SSR in 1980.
