Elena Vonsovskaya (full name Elena Nikolaevna Vonsovskaya; 20 October 1858 – 14 January 1942) was a Soviet violinist and music teacher. Born into the family of the composer and pianist M. I. Vonsovsky, she began appearing in concerts at the age of nine. She was the mother of the composer Anatoly Butsky.
In 1877, Vonsovskaya graduated with distinction from the Moscow Conservatory. She studied violin with Ferdinand Laub and Jan Hřímalý, and harmony with Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
From 1878 she gave concerts in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa, and became the first performer of Nikolai Lysenko's works for violin. She also performed in concerts organized by the Boyan and Prosvita societies, the Ukrainian Club, and the Rodyna Club.
Vonsovskaya taught violin in Penza, Voronezh, and Kursk from 1880 to 1904. At Lysenko's invitation, she moved to Kyiv in 1904 and taught at the Mykola Lysenko Kyiv School of Music and Drama until 1918; she served as its director from 1912 to 1915. From 1918 to 1923, she taught at the Kyiv Institute of Music and Drama. Her students included Miron Polyakin and I. Lukashevsky. From 1928 she lived in Leningrad, now St. Petersburg. She died in Tashkent in 1942.
