Hannes Minnaar is a Dutch pianist. Born in Goes on 26 December 1984, he grew up in Yerseke, where he began playing the piano at the age of seven, and in Emmeloord.
He studied piano with Jan Wijn and organ with Jacques van Oortmerssen at the Amsterdam Conservatory. After graduating, he took lessons with Alfred Brendel, Menahem Pressler, and Ferenc Rados.
Minnaar performs regularly in the Netherlands and abroad and has competed in national and international piano competitions. During his studies, he won first prizes at the Rotterdam Piano Three-Day competition in 1999 and the Princess Christina Competition in 2003. He received second prize at the Geneva International Competition in 2008 and third prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels in 2010.
He received the Edison Classical Debut Prize on 15 June 2012 and the Dutch Music Prize in 2016.
Minnaar performs in the Van Baerle Trio with violinist Maria Milstein and cellist Gideon den Herder. The piano trio received the Kersjes van de Groenekan Prize in 2012 and gave the Prinsengracht Concert in 2020.
