Hans Swarowsky was an Austrian conductor. He was born in Budapest on 16 September 1899 and died in Salzburg on 10 September 1975.
He was also a professor of orchestral conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. His students there included Claudio Abbado, Jesús López Cobos, Jacques Delacote, Ádám Fischer, Iván Fischer, James Allen Gähres, Mariss Jansons, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Peter Schneider, Giuseppe Sinopoli, and Bruno Weil.
Swarowsky's teaching materials and notes were collected in Wahrung der Gestalt, which remains a reference work for conductors.
