Henryk Bobiński
Henryk Bobiński was a Polish pianist, composer, and music teacher. He was born on 1 February 1861 in Warsaw and died there on 24 April 1914.
He studied at the Warsaw Music Institute, where he took piano with Rudolf Strobl and composition with Zygmunt Noskowski. In 1887 he graduated from the Music and Drama School of the Moscow Philharmonic Society. He later perfected his skills with Theodor Leschetizky in Vienna.
From 1880 to 1885 he performed in concerts and taught in Kraków. In 1893 he was active in Odesa, after which he moved to Kyiv, where from 1893 to 1913 he performed and taught at the music school of the Russian Musical Society. He was a performing member of the Kyiv branch of the Russian Musical Society and took part in quartet gatherings. In 1913-1914 he was a professor at the Kyiv Conservatory, then returned to Warsaw shortly before his death. He was buried at Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw.
As a composer, he wrote a symphonic overture, two piano concertos with orchestra, variations for string quartet, and piano compositions. Among his works are a concert transcription of Edvard Grieg's song "I Love You," preludes, études, and salon miniatures including "Waltz-Fantasy," "Nocturne," and "Legend." His Piano Concerto in E minor was performed by the composer in Kyiv in 1913 at a concert marking the opening of the conservatory.
