Jaroslav Hájek was a Czech violinist. He was born on November 27, 1882, in Hradec Králové, and died on March 11, 1919, in Saratov.

From 1896 to 1902 he studied at the Prague Conservatory with Otakar Ševčík. Early in his career he served for a short time as concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1904 he took part, including as a soloist, in the orchestra’s tour to Pavlovsk under the direction of Oskar Nedbal.

On Ševčík’s recommendation, Hájek became concertmaster of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. He also appeared in Finland as a soloist, accompanied by his brother, the pianist Emil Hájek.

From 1906, at the invitation of Stanislav Exner, he taught at the Saratov Music School. When the institution was transformed in 1912 into the Saratov Conservatory, Hájek became professor of violin there. His students included Yakov Rabinovich and Dmitry Tsyganov.
