Jorge López Marín (born 8 May 1949) is a Cuban composer, film composer, conductor, and music educator. He was born in Havana, Cuba.
He graduated from the Havana Conservatory, where he studied with José Ardévol. In 1975 he completed his studies at the Kyiv Conservatory, studying composition with Lev Kolodub and conducting with Alexander Kanershtein. He subsequently undertook postgraduate study at the Moscow Conservatory, completing it in 1978 under Professor Aram Khachaturian.
Marín became chief conductor and artistic director of the student symphony orchestra at the Institute of Arts in Havana. From 1978 he taught composition, orchestration, and conducting at the institute, and from 1979 he served as head of its orchestral conducting department. He also writes music for films.
His works include two symphonies, composed in 1975 and 1979; the Cuban Overture for orchestra (1973); and Encounter with Cathedral Square for orchestra (1980). His concert works include two piano concertos, a Flute Concerto (1974), a Trumpet Concerto (1977), and a Viola Concerto with string orchestra (1977).
Other compositions include music for the Nuestro Tiempo ensemble (1979) and Variations in Cuban Rhythms for string quartet (1974).
