Mindru Katz was a Romanian-Israeli pianist. He was born in Bucharest and, while still a child, was noticed and recognized by George Enescu.

He studied at the Bucharest Music Academy with Florica Musicescu and graduated in 1947. In the same year he made his debut as a soloist with the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 1959 he emigrated to Israel, where he became one of the central figures of the country's musical life. He taught, in particular, at the Higher School of Music of Tel Aviv University.

Katz gave concerts in more than 40 countries, performing with such major conductors as John Barbirolli and Lorin Maazel. His repertoire extended from works by Bach to Aram Khachaturian's piano concerto.

He died on stage in Istanbul during a performance of Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 17.
