Nicolas van Poucke is a Dutch pianist, born in Baarn on 10 October 1992. He comes from a musical family: his mother played the viola, his father the trumpet, and his sister Ella the cello. His brother, Timothy van Poucke, became a dancer.
Van Poucke began piano lessons at the age of six. In 2006, he entered the Sweelinck Academy at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he studied with David Kuyken and later Jan Wijn. He also received coaching from Murray Perahia, Martha Argerich, and Alfred Brendel.
He has performed in the Netherlands and abroad from an early age. On 10 February 2019, he gave a Chopin recital in the Small Hall of the Concertgebouw. In October 2020, he made his London debut at the Royal Festival Hall, performing Ludwig van Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto with the Chineke! Orchestra under Roderick Cox. In December 2020, he made his debut with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto.
