Nigar Usubova (full name Nigar Ibrahim qizi Usubova; 2 May 1914 – 15 September 1994) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani pianist, music educator, and professor. She was named an Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan SSR in 1960.
Usubova was born in the village of Salahly in the Kazakh district of the Elisabethpol Governorate of the Russian Empire. She came from the family of Major General Ibrahim-Aga Musa-Aga oghlu Usubov, a prominent Russian and Azerbaijani military commander; her mother, Govhar Khanum Gaibova, was the younger daughter of the Transcaucasian mufti Mirza Huseyn Efendi Gaibov.
Her first piano teacher was R. Sirovich. After entering music school, she continued her studies in the classes of Heinrich Neuhaus and Alexander Barin. On the recommendation of Alexander Goldenweiser, who heard her perform at a state examination, she entered postgraduate study at the Moscow State Conservatory.
As a teacher, Usubova trained numerous professional musicians who became known both in Azerbaijan and abroad. Her students included pianist and professor Yegana Akhundova, poet and playwright Vagif Samadoghlu, and music scholars and teachers Irina Najafalieva, Zemfira Shafiyeva, Firangiz Hajiyeva, Elmira Musayeva, Hagigat Magerramova, Afghan Salayev, Dilyara Muslimzade, Natavan Mustafayeva, and Medina Jabrayilova.
Usubova died in Baku on 15 September 1994.
