Pyotr Dmitriev is a Russian pianist and musical figure, born in 1974. He was awarded the title Honored Artist of Russia in 2006.
He was born in Moscow into a family of professional musicians. His father was Georgy Dmitriev, a Russian composer. Before entering formal specialist training, he studied music for nearly two years with A. D. Artobolevskaya and A. S. Sumbatyan.
At the age of seven, Dmitriev was admitted to the Central Music School at the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied in the class of A. A. Bakulov. At eight, he made his orchestral debut performing Bach's Concerto in F minor, and soon afterward played concertos by Haydn in D major and Beethoven in C major. From this period, his concert career began.
In 1992, Dmitriev entered the Moscow State Conservatory, where he studied with Professor Lev Naumov. In 1995, he won first prize and a gold medal at the 6th International Piano Competition in Tokyo, after which his international musical career began. In 1998, he graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory in Naumov's class, and in 2000 he completed assistant postgraduate training under the same professor.
