Svyatoslav Lips is a Russian pianist, born in 1974 into the family of the bayan player Friedrich Lips.

He studied at the Central Music School attached to the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in the class of Anna Artobolevskaya. He then graduated from the conservatory in 1997 and completed postgraduate assistant training there in 2000 in the class of Professor Lev Naumov.

Lips is a prizewinner of international competitions in Stresa, Italy, in 1991 and of the Maria Canals Competition in Barcelona, Spain, in 1994. He has performed in cities across Russia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, Latvia, Estonia, and Japan.

He has collaborated with orchestras conducted by Andrey Boreyko, Evgeny Bushkov, Sergey Kondrashev, Dmitri Liss, Valery Polyansky, Vladimir Ponkin, Mikhail Shcherbakov, Urs Schneider, Franz-Paul Decker, and others. Among his chamber music partners are Gidon Kremer, Vladislav Igolinsky, Arkady Gutnikov, Elena Revich, Friedrich Lips, Matti Rantanen, Kirill Rodin, Vladimir Tonkha, Alexander Buzlov, Mikhail Bereznitsky, Valery Popov, Mark Pekarsky, Tatyana Kuindzhi, and others.

A significant part of the pianist's repertoire consists of works by contemporary composers. Compositions were dedicated to Svyatoslav Lips by Sergey Berinsky, Efrem Podgaits, Mikhail Bronner, Alexander Rosenblatt, Tatyana Sergeeva, and Elena Anisimova. His recordings have been released on the labels Nonesuch Records in the United States, Triton in Japan, and Gramzapis in Russia, among others.

From 2008 to 2015, together with Maria Vlasova, he co-led the International Festival of Classical and Contemporary Music "Rendezvous" in Moscow. He has also taken part in chamber music festivals in Lockenhaus and Kostomuksha, the Kamchatka Musical Spring festival in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the A. N. Tcherepnin festival in Japan, the Third International Festival of Contemporary Music, ArsLonga, Noble Seasons, To Sofia with Love, and Moscow Autumn in Moscow.

Since 2019 he has taught at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. He also gives master classes in Russia and abroad and has been a guest teacher at the summer creative school of the New Names Foundation in Suzdal.
