Tonie Ehlen is a Dutch pianist, born in Sittard in 1946.
She studied at the Maastricht Conservatory with Jo Dusseldorp. After receiving the Prix d’Excellence and the Henriette Hustinx Prize for Music, she continued her studies with Paul Badura-Skoda in Vienna and with George van Renesse. In 1974, she was among the laureates of the National Cum Laude Competition for Young Soloists.
From 1977 to 2013, Ehlen taught piano as a principal-subject instructor at the Maastricht Conservatory. Her repertoire encompasses Classical- and Romantic-period music as well as contemporary compositions. She is also active in art song and chamber music.
In 1986, she toured the United States with works by Dutch composers, including Spinsel, a solo work written for her by Robert Heppener.
Ehlen is married to the poet and literary scholar Wiel Kusters.
