Heinrich Neuhaus was Yuri Muravyov's piano teacher at the Moscow Conservatory. Muravyov studied piano in Neuhaus's class, graduated with honors from the Moscow Conservatory in 1952 from the piano class of Professor G. G. Neuhaus, and completed postgraduate studies in piano under his supervision in 1955.
